Overview

Sonatus Software-Defined Component (SDC) is a solution that enables automakers and suppliers to convert traditional electronic vehicle components into dynamic, software-defined systems. By combining lightweight in-vehicle agents, precise data collection, cloud services and automated tuning workflows, SDC lets OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers continuously refine component behavior (for example motors, lighting, ECUs) across the vehicle lifecycle. The result is faster feature delivery, improved performance in diverse driving conditions, lower recall risk and the ability to deploy targeted improvements without full firmware replacements.

Features and Capabilities

  • In-vehicle component runtime and agent: A small, efficient in-vehicle runtime that exposes parameters and telemetry enabling components to be controlled and tuned remotely.
  • Policy-based real-time tuning: Compact tuning policies (kilobytes) that can be applied dynamically to components based on vehicle state and driving conditions, without a full OTA firmware rewrite.
  • Automation & adaptive routines: Automation engine that applies optimal parameter changes based on telemetry and predefined recipes to continuously optimize component performance.
  • Targeted deployment and orchestration: Ability to deploy tuning or policies to a single vehicle, a test fleet, or millions of vehicles with fine-grained targeting and rollout control.
  • Precise data collection: Policy-driven data capture of relevant signals (CAN, Ethernet, ECU values, logs, media where applicable) to support ML/AI analysis and validation.
  • Cloud-backed analysis and lifecycle management: Cloud services for collecting data, evaluating performance, storing policy history and orchestrating lifecycle updates to components.
  • Safety and domain isolation: Mechanisms for ensuring mixed-critical systems remain safe, with interlocks and validation to prevent unsafe parameter changes.
  • Compact footprint & efficiency: Designed to deliver optimized parameter sets very small in size so updates are bandwidth-efficient and suitable for constrained ECUs.
  • Integration with existing SDV stack: Works alongside in-vehicle platform modules (networking, security, update management) to enable end-to-end software-defined vehicle workflows.
  • Support for broad component types: Applicable to actuators, motors, lighting, thermal systems, power electronics and other electronically controlled subsystems.
  • Developer and OEM tooling: Console and API support for authoring policies, simulations, testing and rollout management to speed validation and deployment.
  • Traceability and auditability: Full history of tuning changes, rollbacks and telemetry to support validation, regulatory needs and root-cause analysis.
